Through a diverse career in the creative industries over 12+ years, I have developed a skillset that combines the creative, technical, and organisational side of the industry. I design creative and functional websites armed with the knowledge of how they would be built and can work solo or in a team environment. I have minor experience in setting up servers in DigitalOcean with a LAMP stack, but for the most part, my work is with reputable managed hosted solutions. Working in a large team has given me important experience in project management and communication. I also have the skillset to be client-facing, supporting discussions as we plan their next steps in a digital world.

Web Developer - Bauer Media
I was promoted to a web developer within Bauer Media. As a result, I am now responsible for maintaining a large portfolio of websites from our clients across the UK. Most of my work is created on the WordPress CMS, with a very small percentage on Shopify. While I have experience with Divi and Elementor, most of my WordPress websites are built with bespoke themes that I have developed myself, allowing me to have more control over assets and optimisation. Supporting our sales teams, I also help present our services to prospective clients, understanding their requirements and proposing the best solution for their needs. I enjoy expanding the knowledge of our team in varying topics, including CSS support, designing for the web, and theme development, and have been given positive feedback when doing so.

Digital Executive - Metro Radio / TFM
In this role, I supported commercial teams by delivering tailored digital solutions for advertisers across platforms including web, social media, and display advertising. I worked on a wide range of projects, including microsites, branded landing pages, online competitions and campaign assets. All designed to meet strategic marketing objectives. I collaborated with internal sales teams and external clients to understand campaign goals, then translated those into engaging digital experiences with clear brand messaging. Additionally, I was responsible for the creation of promotional assets for major events and radio initiatives, ensuring brand consistency and visual impact. This position strengthened my ability to balance technical execution with creative direction, sharpened my communication with non-technical stakeholders, and deepened my understanding of audience engagement across digital touchpoints.
Mid 2012 - Mid 2015
Freelance - Navada Group
Partnered long-term with this creative agency to deliver high-quality websites and marketing materials for high-profile clients, including global manufacturers and political parties. I played a lead role in building responsive, custom WordPress sites, helping streamline development and improve code maintainability. Projects often involved collaboration with external partners, requiring adaptability, clear communication, and consistent delivery under pressure. My frontend skillset matured rapidly during this time.

A J Nergaard
Following my degree I started up my own business, supported by the relationships developed while working alongside my fellow students. My career started as a logo and graphic designer for print, before progressing into the digital world. In redesigning a blog for one of my longer term clients, I developed an interest into WordPress. From that moment my focus as a business shifted to more web design and development, supported by my experience in design and branding.
Late 2011 - Mid 2012
Concept 3D
While completing my degree, with the support of college staff, a small team of us developed a student design agency to accelerate our experience in commercial work. Built up from different fields of artistry, we worked alongside local businesses to develop solutions for their needs. It was most common to work on branding projects with a heavy focus on print. During this timeframe we were also tasked with organising an event for younger students to showcase their art to the public with the potential of sales. The work we completed as part of this helped grow our soft skills, creative development, and provided us with our first freelance clients following our graduation.

Tyne Metropolitan College
Following my studies here I was part of a small group of students selected for a summer placement. Working as a team we assisted the marketing department in many areas. Including rebranding some college services, designing for prospectuses, college events and more.
